DEVORA hosts international conference

Research on all aspects of monogenetic (small-volume) volcanism has been presented at the Fourth International Maar Conference (4IMC) in Auckland.

Hosted by New Zealand’s University of Auckland and supported by Massey University of Palmerston North, 4IMC has provided an effective, high-level forum for sharing research developments.

This conference series focuses on maar volcanoes, a low-relief type of volcano that is created when groundwater and magma mix. Examples in Auckland include Panmure Basin and Māngere Lagoon.

The 4IMC has highlighted the importance of the study of small-volume magmatic systems, showcasing the diversity of geochemical and volcanic features that provide vital insights into the processes of magma generation, differentiation, transport, and eruption.

The attached abstract volume captures the research and advancements shared during this conference.
